Pegah Moradi

Pegah Moradi is a PhD candidate in Information Science at Cornell University, where she studies the social and organizational dimensions of digital automation, with a focus on its impacts on work and workers. Most recently, Pegah’s dissertation research has centered around how self-checkout machines and associated crime-control technologies have been changing the future of frontline retail work. Beyond retail, Pegah’s academic work has spanned topics like behavioral advertising and generative AI in political communication.
Her work is supported by the NSF GRFP and the MacArthur Foundation (through the Cornell AI, Policy, and Practice Initiative). Before starting her PhD, she received a B.A. in the interdisciplinary College Scholar program at Cornell and worked as a Project Manager for an enterprise software company in Washington, D.C.
